Consider
this: Air trapped in an attic can
reach a sweltering 150 degrees Fahrenheit or more, increasing
the load on the home's air conditioner and leading to higher energy
bills. We offer only the top-of-the-line Broan® Solar-Powered
Attic Ventilator, the premium solution for attic
ventilation, offering optimal performance and maximum energy
efficiency.
Proper
attic ventilation can actually help keep
a house cooler in the summer and can eliminate uneven
temperatures, preventing ice dams and moisture build-up in the
winter.
- It operates at first light instead of waiting for heat of the day: Powered by the sun, the
Broan SPAV begins working in the morning at first light,
removing moisture from the cool overnight air and ventilating the attic
before the heat of the day can build up. A standard powered attic
ventilator (PAV) must wait until its thermostat detects a high
temperature and signals the ventilator to begin working. By that time, the moisture has already seeped into the
insulation and the ventilator must work harder to cool the air and run
all day when energy costs are higher.
- It pays for itself! You pay for it with fuel cost savings: Since the Broan SPAV
is completely solar powered, it requires NO electricity or fuel, and costs NOTHING to maintain.
- It costs half the price of a traditional ventilator: Also, homeowners
should keep
in mind that within five years, a traditional PAV could cost double the
initial investment after factoring in utility costs. In
fact, with the Broan SPAV, the average
homeowner could save hundreds on energy bills in the first
five years alone.
- It's earth-friendly! Since it's completey powered by the sun, the attic ventilator emits NO pollution and you use no fossil fuels in its operation.
- Save even more -- tax credits available! The Broan SPAV qualifies for a federal tax credit of 30% and a New York State tax credit of 25% of the total cost
of solar product and installation. With these tax credits
and the elimination of ongoing energy costs that a traditional PAV generates, a Broan SPAV pays for itself in no time, usually within several months!
- It works and looks great! From its premium
components and excellent performance capability, to its aesthetically
pleasing design and low profile on the roof, this solar-powered attic ventilator is a practical and excellent choice!

Why Broan? Quality!
Just as every other solar offering Built Well Solar has selected, we took our time comparing models before we chose to install this particular product on Long Island rooftops! We selected the Broan SPAV because it uses only
the highest quality components and its 20 watt (W) output ensures that a
single Broan SPAV can do the work of two lesser performing products.
Its high-end, variable speed, whisper-quiet, direct current (DC) motor
is highly efficient and emits no harmonic noise. The solar panel is made
of high-strength tempered glass that can withstand golf
ball-sized hail, and it won't discolor or warp
like laminate covers, ensuring continued top-of-the-line performance.
The Broan SPAV's highly sensitive solar panels are
able to power the ventilator even in times of low light.
Because the Broan SPAV's solar panels are so sensitive, they can lie
flat on a roof, while other SPAVs must be conspicuously propped up in
order to absorb the sun's rays. The trim is designed
to blend in with the roof's shingles for a sleeker profile. The
SPAV is easy to install and will retrofit into most existing attic
ventilation roof openings in a manner of minutes. In addition to a
standard installation, the ventilators are capable of being
remote-mounted and gable-mounted, allowing the solar panel to
receive optimal sunlight while placing the ventilator in a more
convenient location. For flat, steep or uneven surface roofs, the SPAV can
be curb-mounted to create a solid platform and better manage
water runoff.

Broan, like the other solar products we choose to install, is made in America and the top name in the industry!
Broan's early history goes back to the days of the Great Depression, when two aggressive young men
emerged with two new products that would make major contributions to the
housing industry. In 1932, Henry Broan developed and manufactured a
kitchen fan called the Motordor® Fan that provided quiet and efficient
kitchen ventilation. His creation launched what is today known as
Broan-NuTone LLC. Four years later, in 1936, J. Ralph Corbett developed a
melodious door chime replacing the obnoxious door buzzer of the time.
His development launched what is today known as NuTone, Inc. Both men, headquartered in the Midwest, started their companies
with a simple product and a few employees.
Each expanded their
companies, creating revolutionary new products that provided unmatched
conveniences for homeowners nationwide. Both companies quickly became
global competitors and continued to provide innovative, superior
products to meet the needs of consumers.
Today, corporately known as Broan-NuTone LLC, the global company is headquartered in Hartford, Wisconsin, and
employs more than 3,200 people in eight countries on three continents. The company is North America's largest producer of residential ventilation
products such as range hoods, ventilation fans and indoor air quality
products and also holds major market positions in chimes, central
vacuums, intercom systems, medicine cabinets, built-in electric heaters,
whole-house fans, attic ventilators, paddle fans, ironing centers,
trash compactors and speakers. Broan-NuTone also manufactures private-label products for Sears,
Whirlpool, GE and other appliance leaders.
